How Do You Buy Jewelry?

Good morning! It's a sunny morning here in the Chicago suburbs and oh, do I welcome it!

This morning I have a question for you. How do you shop for jewelry? By item? Rings, necklaces, etc? Or by style? "I'm feeling a little Rocker today." Or "That Sunday brunch with our Church is this weekend."
Right now in my shop, I have it set up by item, rings, earrings, necklaces, and bracelets. But, my style is constantly changing and I'm always trying new styles of jewelry. So, what do you think? When you shop, do you search by style or by item?

    I generally go by style, but then again every once in a while I just want new earrings.

    hmmm. Usually I look by type (necklace,earrings, etc.) then I find a style I like. But then again sometimes you just see something that catches your eye and you have to have it.

    By whatever catches my eye, color-wise, what I am I am in the modd for and what fits my budget...

    I generally shop by gem. When I look for jewelry, I am usually looking for my birthstone (garnet) or something specific. I love pearls, emeralds, rubies, and other gems.

    I guess a good thing is to make sure that once a potential buyer lands in your shop you keep him/her busy and interested checking your items:) diversity and good taste!

    I always bought by color. I just looking to be really matching my clothes and my jewelry, so if I buy a purple jacket, I "need" earrings, necklace or what I think could match in style in purple...
    And as you will supposse, I have for myself hundreds of earrings... and always there is a color or kind of item that I haven´t and have to look for...

    I almost always shop by category rather than style. If I want a necklace, I'm open to any style that tickles the old fancy!

    I've been known to buy an outfit to go with a piece of jewelry that I really love, rather than the other way around.

    Jill, that's so funny, buying an outfit to go with the jewelry. I've been designing jewelry to go with outfits.

    I'm in the Chicagoland area too! I probably shop/create more by color, but my shop has categories like yours.

    It depends. Sometimes I might be looking for the perfect necklace for an occassion that I already have an idea what I want and other times I just browse until something catches my eye.

    Usually I just browse items....that's because I may want "dressy" but then fall in love with something "rocker" instead! :)

    usually I shop by item, something pretty specific. occasionally I just browse and see what catches my eye :0)
